In the South, Saturdays in the fall are reserved for football, and, for us, Saturday mornings are reserved for College GameDay on ESPN. Last football Saturday, College GameDay was on our home turf in Oxford, Mississippi for the Ole Miss vs Alabama game.
We were in the Grove and weren't able to watch College GameDay live on TV, but we quickly realized something exciting was happening when our phones started to vibrate with text messages and phone calls. The calls and texts from family and friends were all to say there were two The Good South bow ties on ESPN! Here's how it all happened:
Remember when we were asked to make a special bow tie to honor Chucky Mullins? That bow tie wound up being on the cover of Invitation Oxford Magazine.
ESPN writer, Wright Thompson, saw the cover, liked the bow tie, and purchased one for himself.
After hearing College GameDay was coming to the Ole Miss vs Alabama game, Wright contacted us to purchase six more of The Chucky Mullins Bow Ties for gifts for the ESPN anchors. There was only one problem: we sold our last special edition bow tie to Coach Billy Brewer.
We went to the drawing board and worked with Wright to design a couple of special bow ties for the gentlemen of College GameDay.
We monogrammed 10.4.14, the date of the game and College GameDay's first visit to the Grove, on the bow.
We met Wright to deliver the bow ties, and he gifted them to the broadcasters. Gene Wojciechowski wore our Red + Blue Stripe Bow Tie!
And Wright Thompson wore his The Chucky Mullins Bow Tie. He had an excellent piece that aired during the broadcast.
It's always fun to see people wearing our bow ties in public and seeing them on national TV is pretty great, too. We thank Wright Thompson for choosing to shop with our Mississippi company for the guys at College Gameday on their first visit to Mississippi and hope they love their bow ties!
